Dr. Nadeem Omar Tarar, Gandhara Chair, University of Wah has provided his research support to the Single National Curriculum department of the Ministry of Education and Professional Training. In this regard, he has prepared a curriculum and wrote 5 booklets on the subject of Buddhism. When published, the name of theGandhara Chair, University of Wah will be mentioned in the credits.

Dr. Nadeem Omar Tarar, Gandhara Chair, University of Wah provided research support to Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) for the preparation of a booklet on the history and heritage of Taxila. The booklet is being published by PTDC as part of the launch of “Salam Pakistan” brand by the Prime Minister of Pakistan. The name of Gandhara Chair, University of Wah will be mentioned in the credits.

The Department of Computer Science, University of Wah organized a Seminar titled “Metaverse and its Future” on 01 August,2022. Ms. Isra Naz, Lecturer, Department of Computer Science was the focal person for this seminar. Dr. Wazir Zada Khan, Dean and Chairperson, Department of Computer Science attended the seminar as the Chief Guest.  Metaverse is a concept of a persistent, online, 3D universe that combines multiple virtual spaces. It is defined as a future iteration of the internet. The metaverse allows users to work, meet, play games, and socialize together in the 3D spaces. All the resource persons delivered informative sessions regarding three emerging modules (Web 3.0, Block Chain Technology, and Metaverse) along with their future applications.

Department of Statistics, University of Wah has organized a webinartitled “Unified Approach to Optimal Estimation of Mean and Standard Deviationfrom Sample Summaries” on 01 August,  2022.  Prof. Jan Rychtar fromthe Department of Mathematics, Virginia Commonwealth University, USA was theGuest Speaker. The Guest Speaker discussed one of his recent research articlesas a reference to show how various methods could be developed to estimate thesample mean and standard deviation when only the sample size and other selectedsample summaries are reported.  He highlighted that the proposedestimators have the lowest variance among linear unbiased estimators. Graphicalrepresentation was also illuminated for better understanding. Finally, hedemonstrated the performance of the estimators numerically for Covid-19 data.More than 35 participants including students, faculty members and researchersattended the webinar. The webinar ended with an interactive QA session.

Departments of Mathematics, Management Sciences, and Economics participated in “The 7th China International College Students’ “Internet+” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition”- the world's largest innovation and entrepreneurship competition for college students. The competition aims at providing an education exchange platform for creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship. As per the requirements of the event, three UW teams comprising three students each submitted their projects. As a token of contribution, students from University of Wah have received participation souvenirs from China University of Geosciences, Beijing.

Prof. Dr. Nazir Hussain, Dean Social Sciences and Humanities participated in the Roundtable Conference on “Securing Balochistan Amid Hybrid Warfare Through Development" organized by the International Institute of Conflict Resolution in Islamabad on July 21, 2022. Prof. Dr. Nazir underlined the importance of structural reforms in Balochistan for the improvement of law and order situation there.

Department of Statistics, University of Wah organized a research seminar titled "How to prepare a research paper for journals? Pressure, Barrier and Solution” on 20 July, 2022. Prof. Dr. Javid Shabbir, Chairperson, Department of Statistics was the Guest Speaker. He spoke on the ways of writing well-structured research paper for publication and how the quality of research papers can be improved. Different pressures and barriers and their solutions regarding the publication of research were also highlighted. In addition, discussion pertaining to the basic definitions of Impact -Factor, Scopus, JCR, HJRS, Publons, Google scholar, Research Gate and ORCID etc. was also held. More than 30 participants including students and faculty members attended the Seminar, which ended with an interactive QA session.

Department of English, on the invitation of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Malaysia, took part in “Online Global Classroom-2022” on 19-20 July, 2022. The event was a joint venture of three prominent Asian universities including Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Malaysia, Jeonbuk National University, South Korea and University of Wah, Pakistan. Dr. Rasib Mahmood, Chairperson, Department of English, was the Guest Speaker on Day-2. He delivered a speech titled “Reflections and Revolutions of Pandemic: A Flux in Language and Communication Trends in 21 st Century”. Chairpersons of all the three universities, along with their faculty members and students, attended the event. The event ended with a note of appreciation and with a hope that such kind of research activities will be continued in future for promotion of research.

On the eve of start of new semester, Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi, Vice Chancellor, UW was the invited guest speaker at the Physics Department, University of Karachi. Faculty members, undergraduate and post graduate students attended the lecture on 18th July, 2022.The 90 minutes session was divided into two parts: understanding of basic physics principle (for the BS students) and physics of supernova explosions (for MS and PhD students).

Later the VC also met Prof. Dr.Nasira Khatoon, Vice Chancellor, Karachi University and Prof. Dr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodi, Vice Chancellor, NED University of Engineering and Technology. During his meetings with both the VCs, Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi, VC-UW, conversed on matters of mutual academic interests and emphasized on boosting research ties between the institutions. The visits ended with notes of thanks and exchange of souvenirs.

Prof. Dr. Nazir Hussain, Dean UW Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, attended International Social Science Conference, 2022 organized by University of Lahore on 15-16 July, 2022.

He chaired the following three sessions during the Conference:

1. Implications of Emerging Technologies on National and International Security

2. National, Regional and Global Security Challenges

3. Symbolic Boundaries: Human Migration and Belonging He also spoke in the concluding session of the Conference and highlighted the contribution of private sector universities in promotion of Social Sciences in Pakistan.
